R62 LANGKLOOF FRUIT ROUTE

 

KAREEDOUW

The pretty little town of Kareedouw, just 2.5km from Assegaaibosch, is home to a NG Kerk (Church) that was voted 5th most beautiful in South Africa. Kareedouw is famous for their very tasty Boerewors. The town hosts a few good quality coffee shops and restaurants.

 

TWEE RIVIEREN, JOUBERTINA, LOUTERWATER & MISGUND

The Langkloof Blossom festival is held yearly to celebrate the wealth of flowers and fruit that originate from this fertile region, otherwise known as the “Langkloof Fruit Route”.

Other attractions include a vast abundance of fynbos (over 2000 species), the Honeybush tea industry, the “Kouga Mummy” and the scenic splendor of the Formosa Peak (1675m), the highest point in the Tsitsikamma Mountains.

 

TSITSIKAMMA & EERSTERIVIER

The “emerald” of the Garden Route is situated 13 kilometers from the Lodge.

Enjoy a round of Golf at the Fynbos Golf Course in Eersterivier, or thrill your senses at Tree Top Canopy Tours.

Tsitsikamma National Park is worth a visit for its spectacular setting at the Mouth of the Storms River.

 

JEFFREY’S BAY ST. FRANCIS , & PLETTENBERG BAY

The seaside towns of Jeffreys Bay, St. Francis & Plettenberg Bay are all within 35 – 70 minutes drive from the Lodge. Each town offers great opportunities for shopping, dining and scenic coastline drives.

Jeffrey’s Bay is world renowned for its incredible waves, beaches and seashelles, and is home to the annual Billabong Pro Surfing Championships. Jeffreys Bay is also the Billabong capital of South Africa.

 

THE BAVIAANSKLOOF

The Lodge is situated near the only southern entrance to the Baviaanskloof Mega Reserve, a World Heritage Site, which is treasured for its rich biodiversity.

This makes the Lodge an ideal base for 4×4 enthusiasts who wish to explore this magnificent alternative route to the Baviaanskloof
